Model Locomotive to let off a little steam!!!l
The CliShay locomotive which will be featured by the Lake Hume Model Engineers at the Rotary Market

The CliShay locomotive design was for rugged lines or for timber lines in the early to late 1800s. It’s a simpler design for ease of maintenance and repair. Unlike a conventional steam locomotive which has a horizontal boiler and horizontal steam cylinders with connecting rods to the driving wheels, the CliShay has a vertical boiler with 78 copper tubes to produce steam and can be fired by either coal or gas. The vertical steam engine has two cylinders with bores of 47 millimetres and
a stroke of 40 millimetres connected by a crankshaft through a rudimentary gearbox to chains to the driving bogies. The locomotive runs on a 71⁄4-inch track. Designed and built by Andrew Matthews of Adelaide, this model locomotive is owned by Charlie Boase of the Lake Hume Model Engineers.
The club operates the Wodonga Creek Miniature Railway at Diamond Park, Lincoln Causeway, Wodonga.
